Ubuy’s new report reveals Europe’s top 20 cities where families can go to enjoy the ultimate science-themed day out, based on the number of science museums, the number of museums overall, and the number of museums with free entry. “It’s great to see just how many science museums there are across Europe… Athens is home to a technology museum with a difference, the Museum of Ancient Greek Technology,” said Faizan Khan, Content Marketing Specialist at Ubuy. Located in Kolonaki, in the heart of the Greek capital, the Ancient Greek Technology Museum was founded by Kostas Kotsanas in 2018. The museum’s exhibition of ancient Greek technology includes approximately 300 operating models of ancient Greek inventions. Athens is home to 142 museums According to the report, the Greek capital ranked 11th on the list of the top 20 cities for a science trip since it’s home to five science museums and 142 museums overall, while 12 of them offer free entry. At the Museum of Ancient Greek Technology, parents and children can explore interactive exhibits and test out inventions, gadgets, and even toys and puzzles that the ancient Greeks would have used. “The National Observatory of Athens is also well worth a visit; book a ticket to come after nightfall to watch the skies through a telescope. The observatory tour will also teach you about the history of astronomy.” The top city for a science trip, according to Ubuy’s list, is London with 13 science museums and 491 museums overall, while 96 of those museums have free entry. Paris is next with 13 science museums and 382 museums total, followed by Prague (3rd), Berlin (4th), Rome (5th), Amsterdam (6th), Madrid (7th), Budapest (8th), Vienna (9th), and Lisbon (10th). Athens also recently shined as the best-smelling city in the world, according to vape company Haypp. The city was also ranked by Google Flights as one of the top summer destinations for travelers from the United States.
