Held on the sidelines of the Porto Carras Pro-Am Aegean Mini Tour golf tournament, which will take place during May 14-18, the FootGolf event is scheduled for Friday, May 17. European champions including Kostas Katsouranis, Angelos Basinas, Giourkas Seitaridis, and Takis Fyssas, who won the Euro 2004 with the Greek national team, as well as the international Greek football players Giannis Amanatidis and Lazaros Christodoulopoulos will be invited to kick a football into holes larger than those found in golf with as few shots as possible. FootGolf has been regulated as a sport by the Federation for International FootGolf (FIFG) since 2012. The rules of the game closely resemble those of golf, promising an entertaining sport blending elements of football and golf. Porto Carras Pro-Am Aegean Mini Tour The Porto Carras Pro-Am Aegean Mini Tour will take place at the award-winning Porto Carras Grand Resort, recognized as the top golf hotel in Greece at the Greek Hospitality Awards 2023. The event’s schedule will start on Wednesday, May 15, with a practice round for all participants and a welcome cocktail by Domaine Porto Carras. The first round of the Pro-Am will take place on Thursday, May 16, and the second round will follow on Friday, May 17. The competition will conclude on Saturday, May 18, with the Open Tournament for professionals and the Individual for amateurs. Already, top golfers from Greece and abroad such as Federico Elli (PGA of Italy), Henrik Engdahl (PGA of Sweden), and Boris Chakarov (PGA of Bulgaria) have confirmed their participation. Registrations continue to finalize the number of teams participating. Porto Carras Pro-Am is organized by Porto Carras Golf under the auspices of the Tourism Ministry, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and the PGA of Greece, a member of the Confederation of Professional Golf. AEGEAN is the tournament’s major sponsor and official airline. Sports marketing agency ActiveMedia Group is responsible for the event’s golf production.
