Kalymnos, Thassos, Lefkada and Skopelos have been identified as some of the most affordable destinations for British travelers booking package holidays this summer, according to a recent analysis by Which? Travel. The company’s report highlights the 10 least expensive destinations in Europe for British summer holidays, based on an analysis of 4,558 package holidays offered by the UK’s leading tour operators, Jet2holidays and TUI, in March 2024. The island of Kalymnos in the Dodecanese emerged as the most affordable package holiday destination for this summer, as per the report. “Tiny Kalymnos is a lesser-known Dodecanese island with secluded coves, sapphire seas, rugged mountains (favored among the climbing community), and lots of excellent restaurants in its main resorts of Kantouni, Massouri, Myrties, and Pothia,” the report says. The island’s capital, Pothia, is considered “a bargain” (the cheapest holiday found was 794 pounds). Kalymnos is a 40-minute boat ride from Kos, adding to its sense of seclusion. Thassos secured the second spot on the list with an average price of 862 pounds per person for a 7-night holiday. Meanwhile, Lefkada, ranked third in affordability, stood out as one of the top-rated destinations among the surveyed Greek islands. Skopelos claimed the seventh position with an average cost of 985 pounds per person per week. Other affordable destinations for the Brits include: Costa Brava and Costa de la Luz in Spain; the Venetian Riviera, the Amalfi Coast, and Campania in Italy; and Malta.
