Based on findings of the ETC’s April 2024 survey on a sample of 4,583 people, Greece is ranked 4th among preferred countries for the next intra-European trip while 6.3 percent of those surveyed said they were planning to visit in the coming period. More specifically, 43 percent expressed interest in sunny destinations in Southern Europe, with Greece ranking 4th (6.3 percent), after Italy (8.4 percent), Spain (8.1 percent), and France (7.1 percent). A closer look reveals that travelers from Austria and Germany place Greece 5th on their list, British and Italian vacationers place the country 3rd, holidaymakers from Poland and France name Greece 2nd, and the Swiss rank Greece 4th. Source: ETC According to the ETC report, respondents in the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain have not included Greece in their Top 5 picks for upcoming travel. Additionally, Greece also ranks second after Spain (20 percent) among the countries with the most repeat visitors with 17 percent, followed by France, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Austria, Croatia, Portugal, and the UK. Source: ETC Greece is also among the countries welcoming more new travelers this spring and summer at 27 percent followed by Portugal (24 percent), and Croatia (23 percent). According to the ETC, increased demand for sun & beach (25 percent) and coast & sea destinations (16 percent) is benefiting Southern Mediterranean destinations such as Greece. Culture & heritage follows for 19 percent. In this respect, Greece ranks 2nd after Italy with 9 percent planning to visit, followed by Spain, Portugal, and Croatia.
