Photo source: Region of Ionian Islands The upgrade and modernization of marina and port infrastructure on Lefkada and Meganissi topped the agenda of talks between Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni and local stakeholders. Kefalogianni recently visited the Ionian islands, where she met with tourism professionals and local government to discuss priority projects that will further enhance the tourism offer. Among others, Kefalogianni visited the 620-berth Lefkada marina, which has secured RRF upgrade funding. The project is awaiting file approval. She also visited Nydri, where a 90-berth marina was recently completed through the Interreg VI-A Greece-Italy program and she was informed of efforts to accelerate the creation of a marina at Vlicho. Lastly, the minister visited Meganissi, which has also requested the creation of a small marina for recreation boats and Paliaros on the mainland, where she discussed the possibility of an air link via Aktion airport to Athens Airport as well as the creation of a marina. The aim of the visit was to speak with the local stakeholders about challenges, find solutions for a future that will create jobs, generate income, and stimulate growth for all islanders, she said.
