Passengers flying with British Airways from the UK and Etihad Airways from Asia, Middle East, Africa and Australia to Athens International Airport (AIA) will now be able to continue their journey to one of the Greek destinations served by SKY express. More specifically, British Airways’ passengers traveling from every part of the UK can visit any Greek destination they choose from among the 33 served by the Greek airline. The UK’s flag carrier, British Airways has more transatlantic flights to Europe than any other airline. In 2023 alone, it carried 43 million passengers to more than 200 destinations worldwide. Accordingly, the new strategic interconnection of SKY express with Etihad Airways covers the travel needs of passengers from Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia and strengthens the Greek airline’s network around the world. Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world and last year carried 14 million passengers, an increase of 40 percent compared to the previous year. SKY express Chief Commercial Officer Gerasimos Skaltsas said the strategic partnerships demonstrate the company’s steady upward course in the international market and its reliability. The Greek airline counts 18 collaborations with major global airlines. “All of us at SKY express aim to strengthen connectivity and demand. Every day, we work to make Greece a sought-after travel destination for passengers worldwide all year round,” Skaltsas said.
