The program for the 3rd Sterea Run, a five-month event featuring a variety of certified routes, races, and marathons in major cities and villages of the Region of Central Greece, was recently announced.

Taking place from June to October, the Sterea Run event will consist of five races held in the region’s cities, allowing participants to run through major monuments and attractions in Central Greece.

Regional authorities have ensured that the 3rd Sterea Run meets all necessary criteria for hosting high-level races.

“The Sterea Run unites the entire Region of Central Greece through its competitive routes, providing professional athletes and amateurs alike with the opportunity to participate in quality races,” said Ilias Kaltsas, Regional Sports Advisor.

Throughout the five-month event, participants will run in the following races:

Lilantios Half Marathon (21.1 km) Eretria (Chalkida, 10 km., 5 km., 1.5 km. children’s) on June 2.

Karpenisi Night Run (10 km, 5 km, 1.5 km) on August 10.

The Road of Epaminondas to Thebes (21.5 km., 10 km., 5 km., and 1.5 km. for children) on September 22.

Trofonios Half Marathon, Livadeia (10 km., 5 km., 1.5 km.) on September 29.

Lamia Run Festival (10km, 5km, 1.5km) on October 6.

Amfissa Night Run—Iniochos Dromos (21,5 km., 5 km., 1.5 km.) on October 12–13

Renowned Greek athletes, including champions Marios Anagnostou, Anastasia Marinakou, Giorgos Dialechtos, Matina Noula, and Eleftheria Monastriotis, will be present at the 3rd Sterea Run.

The initiative is supported by the municipalities of Chalkida, Eretria, Karpenisi, Delphi, Levadia, Thiva, and Lamia, as well as the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS).

“The great sporting event of the Region of Central Greece is an annual tradition, which improves every year thanks to the support of our champions and all those who participate as runners or spectators,” said Regional Governor Fanis Spanos.
