Photo @ Porto Carras Pro-Am photos by Zagas Photography Professional and amateur golfers from 12 European countries participated in a golf tournament hosted at the Porto Carras Grand Resort on the peninsula of Sithonia, Halkidiki. The international Porto Carras Pro-Am Aegean Mini Tour golf tournament was held from May 14 to 18 at the resort, home to Northern Greece’s only 18-hole par 72 golf course. Golfers from Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Serbia, Sweden, the Czech Republic, and Greece competed in the tournament. According to the organizers, the golf tournament contributed to the promotion and development of golf tourism in Northern Greece, with visitors “enjoying the perfect destination” while also participating in many parallel activities. Photo @ Porto Carras Pro-Am photos by Zagas Photography The Porto Carras Pro-Am Aegean Mini Tour began on May 15 with a practice round for all participants, followed by a welcome cocktail hosted by Domaine Porto Carras in the evening. The first round of the Pro-Am took place on May 16, followed by the second round on May 17. The second-place team included Christos Nikopoulos, Gkotsis, Werner, and Kalogiros, while the third-place team featured Themis Ginis, Fistrek, Hoppen, Fasois. In the special team awards, the top team during the first-day consisted of Sofronis, Bountis, Van Duijne, Fragistas, while the top team on the second day was Elli, Marian Abrashev, Alexander Abrashev, Tourgaidis. In the Amateur Gross category, Alexander Abrashev was first, Christian Werner was second, and Marian Abrashev was third. In the Amateur Net category, Anastasios Gkotsis was first, Philippos Piperas was second, and George Karakasis was third. The Longest Drive award for the first day was received by Christian Werner, and the second day by Anastasios Gkotsis, while in the Closest To The Pin category, Petros Tourgaidis won the first day, and Michalis Archangelitis the second. A FootGolf event was also part of the tournament, which saw the participation of football legends including Zisis Vryzas, Fanis Katergiannakis, Angelos Basinas, Vasilis Tsiartas, Takis Fyssas, and Kostas Chalkias. The schedule officially ended with the Awards Gala Dinner, which included the awarding ceremony to the winners in both team and individual categories. Photo @ Porto Carras Pro-Am photos by Zagas Photography Outside the golf course, Porto Carras also hosted wine tasting sessions showcasing exquisite varieties to support the Association of Parents of Children with Neoplastic Diseases of Northern Greece “LAMPSI” The Porto Carras Pro-Am tournament was organized by Porto Carras Golf under the auspices of the Tourism Ministry, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), the Halkidiki Tourism Organization (HTO), and the PGA of Greece, a member of the Confederation of Professional Golf. AEGEAN was the tournament’s major sponsor and official airline, while the event’s golf production was managed by sports marketing agency ActiveMedia Group.
