The airline released its second annual list of most-searched international destinations based on US searches from November 1, 2023, to March 18, 2024, for travel between May and August 2024. The top 10 list reveals that many US flyers are seeking different cultural experiences in faraway settings, with Athens experiencing the highest surge — a 248 percent increase in searches from last year — landing it in 4th place. London was the most sought-after destination, followed by Paris and Rome. The list also included Cancún in the fifth spot, Amsterdam (6th), and Tokyo (7th), while Dublin, Barcelona, and Vancouver, Canada, were new additions this year. Athens’ popularity is further confirmed by a recent ForwardKeys report that includes the city among the most attractive European destinations for this year. The city’s rich history, vibrant daily life, and variety of activities for both kids and adults elevate the Greek capital in travelers’ preferences. Meanwhile, British tourists are choosing Athens for its more affordable vacation options.
