The new initiative, to run for a period of four months, aims to showcase Greece as a sustainable tourism destination to the Australian and UK markets. Travelers are invited to discover Greece’s hidden beauties through the Visit Greece website and to participate in a series of unique experiences designed exclusively for MasterCard cardholders. Among others, the GNTO and MasterCard have developed 10 sustainable experiences focusing on Athens, Paxi, Trikala, Astypalea, and Tilos, among other destinations. Holidaymakers are encouraged to explore the rich marine life of the Greek islands, sample local gastronomy, learn about traditions, culture, and history through art, and engage with the Greek countryside through activities such as cycling, hiking, and kayaking. GNTO and MasterCard have utilized digital tools to promote experiences and tourism activities through selected channels like Display, Video, Google Search, Native Ads, and social media, ensuring broad and targeted promotion of the country. “We are further developing our strategic partnership with MasterCard with a joint campaign focusing on the experiences visitors can enjoy in Greece,” said GNTO Secretary-General Dimitris Fragakis, adding that the GNTO remains committed to sustainability principles and enhancing the competitiveness of Greek tourism globally.
