TEMES SA, a premier developer of premium destinations, has announced the opening of a permanent exhibition at the War Museum in Athens, dedicated to the contribution of the Peloponnese to the Greek Revolution.

Titled “Journey to Freedom, 1821”, the permanent exhibition culminates the celebrations marking the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution.

Through the exhibition, the central role of the Peloponnese during the revolution is highlighted, offering guests the opportunity to experience some of the landmarks of the era, particularly the Battle of Navarino.

“The cooperation between TEMES SA and the War Museum highlights the value of synergies and reinforces the common goal of bringing our history closer to the present and especially to young people,” the exhibition’s organizer said in a recent announcement.

The permanent exhibition is held in collaboration with the Captain Vassilis and Carmen Constantakopoulos Foundation and the Eugenides Foundation.

The exhibition includes artworks and digital three-dimensional exhibits from the Morias ’21 program, as well as from the NAVS Project of the Eugenides Foundation, designed to digitally showcase the Greek naval tradition.

“It is a new thematic room in which digital exhibits on the events of the Greek Revolution in the Peloponnese region will be displayed using modern media,” explains the president of the War Museum, Lieutenant General (I) Konstantinos Karamesinis.

An initiative of the Foundation and TEMES, the Morias ’21 Program aims to promote the Peloponnese as the land where the fight for independence was established through thematic routes and experiential or interactive experiences focusing on history, art, gastronomy, and nature.

Furthermore, particular emphasis has been placed on promoting and documenting the Greek shipbuilding tradition and naval history through digital and VR exhibits, as well as 3D prints, which were presented at the exhibition “Run onto the waves of the formidable sea, 1821: The War at Sea – Eugenides Foundation.”

In addition, the exhibition hosts original content from the collections of Costa Navarino and the General State Archives. Dr. Sophia Handaka curated the exhibition’s scenario, while the architectural design of the space, which will host the exhibition, is by the exhibition architecture firm Architectonofilia. The digital experience is curated by Cage, and the graphic design and editing are undertaken by Graphic Design Atelier Enarte.

“The new permanent exhibition marks the culmination of a journey that we embarked on in 2020 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution. Our vision is to ensure that our history becomes a powerful lesson for building a better future for the next generations,” said Achilles Constantakopoulos, President of the Captain Vasilis and Carmen Konstantakopoulos Foundation and TEMES S.A.
