Photo source: GNTO The thematic tourism options of Meteora, Kalambaka and Preveza were introduced to media representatives and influencers from Serbia during a press trip organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO). Held in late May, the press trip was part of the Greek tourism board’s efforts to promote the country’s destinations and their offerings to international markets. Representatives from major news agencies, such as Euronews, Radio and Television Serbia (RTS), BLIC, Telegraf, and Hello Magazine, attended the trip, along with popular influencers from the neighboring country. To promote the tourism products of the destinations, the GNTO gave the guests a tour of some of the most popular sights, including Ancient Nikopolis, the churches of Agios Charalambos and Agios Stefanos, and the prehistoric caves of Theopetra. Additionally, the Serbian guests had the opportunity to enjoy a cruise in the Amvrakikos Gulf, sample ouzo at a local distillery, participate in a wine tasting in Meteora, and savor many local delicacies. According to the GNTO, participants were fascinated not only by the hospitality of the residents but also by the potential each destination holds for the development of thematic forms of tourism. They also gathered the necessary information and audiovisual material for creating special features based on their experiences. The trip was organized by the GNTO’s branch in Serbia with the support of the municipalities of Preveza and Kalambaka. Serbia is a key target market of the GNTO’s communication strategies. As part of these efforts, the GNTO has already organized a networking event for tourism professionals in Belgrade and contributed to the creation of an online travel guide for Chania in Serbian.
