As part of efforts to boost tourist activity and revenues in the areas of Thessaly and Evros hit by destructive floods and fires last year the government announced the launch later this month of the Thessaly Evros Pass program.

The scheme will subsidize holidays to the regions for eligible parties out of a total budget of 4.5 million euros. Individuals wishing to go on holidays in the next few months in Thessaly or Evros can apply for the pass here using Taxisnet numbers. They will need a smart phone and email to verify their identity.

Only tax residents of Greece, individuals who do not have their main residence in the selected destinations and have not received social tourism funding in the 2023-2024 period are eligible to apply.

Approved applicants – following a lottery – will be granted digital cards to pay for accommodation, food, and transport in the two regions. Subsidies range from 100 to 200 euros depending on destination.

Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou

The program is being implemented by the ministries of Climate Crisis, National Economy, Interior, Digital Governance and Tourism.

“The Thessaly Evros Pass aims to provide incentives to citizens to visit these areas while supporting tourism activity. With a budget of up to 4.5 million euros, the action will act as a stimulant for the local economies of Evros and Thessaly,” said Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou.

The Thessaly Evros Pass comes after similar initiatives the North Evia – Samos Pass.
