Elivi Skiathos’ Beaches Receive Blue Flags for Second Year

Three beaches on the Greek island of Skiathos, managed by the 5-star Elivi Skiathos Hotel, have claimed the Blue Flag label, distinguished for their safety and water purity.

The beaches of Ambelakia Elivi, Big Banana Elivi, and Small Banana Elivi are among the 625 in Greece to receive a Blue Flag this year. Additionally, twelve more beaches on the island won the prestigious eco-label.

“For the second consecutive year, Elivi Skiathos celebrates the honorary distinction for the three beaches it manages… This is an outstanding achievement by our team that demonstrates our ongoing effort and commitment to sustainability,” the hotel’s management said in a recent announcement.

Aiming to promote sustainability and eco-friendly practices, the management of Elivi Skiathos plans to create forest paths and fire protection zones in cooperation with local authorities. Additionally, Elivi organizes actions to raise public awareness about environmental issues.

The Blue Flag program is operated under the auspices of the Foundation for Environmental Education, which has its headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Blue Flag is one of the world’s most recognized voluntary awards for beaches, marinas, and sustainable tourism boats. To qualify for the Blue Flag, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria must be met and maintained.

In Greece, the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (EEPF) is the official representative of the foundation.
