Photo source: GNTO Two travelers from Australia recently had the opportunity to discover the beauties of Amorgos and Santorini with the support of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO). Elizabeth Anne Fanos and her daughter, Joanna Maria Fanos, visited the two Greek islands from May 19 to 30 after winning two tickets in a competition held following the screening of the French film “Two Tickets to Greece” in Sydney. This initiative was organized in collaboration with the Greek tourism board, the Consulate General of Greece in Sydney, and Palace Cinemas to promote the film and the appeal of Greece to the Australian audience. Palace Cinemas initiated the competition by launching a special website where participants completed the phrase, “The first thing I would do in Greece is…” describing the experience they desired during their trip. Photo source: GNTO Directed by French director and screenwriter Marc Fitousi, the film premiered in March 2023 at the 34th French-language Film Festival of Australia, with the support of the Greek Consulate General. Its festival presentation was accompanied by a promotional spot from the GNTO titled “Greece/You Will Want To Stay Forever”. According to the GNTO, the film was a commercial success in Australia and received positive feedback from the audience. “This is expected to contribute to the stimulation of tourist flows to Greece and enhance the country’s appeal as a destination for international film and television productions,” GNTO officials said. “Two tickets to Greece” “Two Tickets to Greece” is a comedy film highlighting the friendship between women, starring Laure Calamy, Olivia Côte, and Kristin Scott Thomas. It tells the story of Blandine and Magalie, two old friends from their teenage years, who meet again later in their life. Together, they decide to fulfill a long-held dream by traveling to Amorgos, where their favorite movie ‘The Big Blue’ by Luc Besson was filmed. However, during the trip, it becomes clear that the two friends now have a completely different approach to vacations and life, which leads their relationship to hilarious situations.
