To create the list, the company’s experts analyzed over 250,000 reviews from customers on the platform. However, the experts only chose the highest-rated cities from each country to add more variety to the list, distinguishing the 2024 edition from its predecessors.

Kefalonia in Greece surged to the 3rd position in 2024, a notable jump from its 8th place in the previous year. Based on the findings, Kefalonia received an average rating of 9.13 from 728 holidaymakers, cementing its status as a preferred destination for road trip adventurers.

DiscoverCars.com experts highlighted Kefalonia’s idyllic routes, noting, “If you drive to the harbor of Argostoli in the morning, you might be lucky enough to see the wild sea turtles”. They further described the scene: “When the fishermen dock their boats to sort through their catch and prepare to sell the morning’s fresh fish, the turtles swim right up to them in the hopes of getting some scraps”.

Another popular tourist gem on the island’s itinerary is the Cave of Melissani, nestled near the coastal town of Sami. Other notable destinations on the list include Funchal and Ponta Delgada in Portugal, Larnaca in Cyprus, Christchurch in New Zealand, Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe, as well as Menorca and Lanzarote in Spain. Budapest, the capital of Hungary, also gets noticed for its beautiful scenery, completing the list of top places for scenic road trips.
