Company updates Trips Booked with FTI After July 6 Canceled, Refunds Confirmed by GTP editing team 17 June 2024 written by GTP editing team 17 June 2024 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 27 In the latest developments following the bankruptcy earlier this month of FTI Touristik GmbH, all trips with departure dates after Saturday, July 6, 2024 have been canceled. According to reports, Europe’s third-largest tour operator has canceled approximately 175,000 package trips booked before it went insolvent, which a creditors’ committee approved last week. Despite efforts and negotiations, no satisfactory solution could be found which would include another company taking over package tours already booked. FTI Touristik GmbH is informing affected customers and service partners, including travel agencies and hoteliers. It is reminded that FTI confirmed that costs for affected travelers would be covered by the German Travel Protection Fund DRSF. “In order to give customers the planning security they need before the start of the summer holidays and to be able to immediately book their trip with another operator, the decision had to be made to cancel all remaining trips. With the cancelation of all package holidays, FTI’s travel agency partners now have the opportunity to offer their customers alternatives,” said legal advisor Axel Bierbach. He confirmed that all deposits already made and any advance payments from package travelers would be refunded by DRSF. “Travelers should not fear that they won’t get their money back. Customers who have booked individual services such as flights, hotels and transfers through FTI are not entitled to a refund for payments already made by DRSF,” he added. Bierback went on to add that efforts are being made to explore all alternative options. Earlier this month, TUI Group and Dertour announced that they would be providing support to FTI travelers in 13 destinations including Greece.
