The new 199-room InterContinental Crete opened its doors to the public this week offering upgraded hospitality services to tourists visiting Greece’s largest island.

Located at Agios Nikolaos and with views of Mirabello Bay, InterContinental Crete is the second InterContinental operating in Greece. The project is a joint project of IHG Hotels & Resorts, Hines, and Henderson Park, and managed by Y&T Daskalantonakis Knossians Group.

In addition to its 199 rooms and suites which include private pools, the new Crete hotel boasts three restaurants overseen by Michelin star-winning executive chef Nikos Roussos, a spa center with indoor heated pool, five private treatment suites, a hammam and sauna, and a fully equipped and naturally lit gym.

InterContinental Crete was designed by 3ΧΝ Architects and Diarchon Architects.

“InterContinental Crete at Agios Nikolaos is our second venture on Crete. Our collaboration with InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, one of the largest international hotel groups, seals our commitment to supporting the further development of Crete, a destination with a long tourism tradition,” said Paul Gomopoulos, senior managing director and head of Hines Greece.

Also commenting on the news, Tina and Giannis Daskalantonaki said the hotel, a new addition to the Knossians Group portfolio, “not only expands our footprint in the region, but also incorporates the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of Crete. We look forward to welcoming guests to a destination where world-class hospitality meets the island’s timeless charm”.

The InterContinental Crete is located just one hour from Heraklion Airport.

IHG Hotels & Resorts also operates the InterContinental Athenaeum Athens, a luxury hotel very close to Athens city center.
