Spanish hospitality giant Melia Hotels International announced that it had added INNSiDE Crete Elounda, its fifth hotel in Greece, to its portfolio strengthening its presence on the Greek hospitality market.

Located in Elounda on Crete, INNSiDE Crete Elounda is the group’s first hotel in Greece under the INNSiDE by Meliá brand.

INNSiDE Crete Elounda replaces Elounda Ilion as a lifestyle concept hotel targeting younger generation travelers. Following extensive renovation works, the 5-star, 85-room and suite hotel is scheduled to open to the public in May 2025.

Melia also operates three hotels on the Greek islands and one in Athens.

The company said the new franchise deal for the INNSiDE by Meliá brand aims to break new ground in Greece’s lifestyle travel segment. The deal also strengthens the group’s partnership with Zeus Hotels which now covers some 1,050 rooms.

In addition to its lobby, reception area and bar, the hotel offers open living lounges, gym, and meeting areas catering to the needs of independent travelers. Sustainable practices are also a priority with limited use of paper and plastic.

“The new hotel in Elounda reinforces our commitment to upgrade Greek hospitality standards and offer our guests exceptional experiences,” said Zeus Hotels CEO Lefteris Papakaliatis.

“This collaboration allows us to combine the experience of Meliá Hotels International in the sector with Greece’s unrivaled hospitality, strengthening our presence both on the Greek market and in the wider Mediterranean region,” said Meliá Hotels International Chairman & CEO Gabriel Escarrer.

Founded in 1956 in Mallorca, Meliá Hotels International has more than 400 hotels in its portfolio and in the pipeline in more than 40 countries.
