Destinations news Forbes: Paros is a ‘Tranquil Alternative’ for Summer 2024 Getaways by GTP editing team 21 June 2024 written by GTP editing team 21 June 2024 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 31 Photo source: Forbes Forbes magazine has distinguished the Greek island of Paros as one of the top three must-visit destinations – along with Mauritius and Sri Lanka – for summer vacations in 2024. Located in the heart of the Cyclades, Paros is labeled as a “tranquil alternative” to other overcrowded Greek islands and a “rising star” for the years ahead. “With thousands of islands, jaw-dropping views, and sparkling Mediterranean waters, Greece is a perennially popular tourism destination,” according to Forbes’ editor, Kathleen Peddicord. Highlighting that Greece receives 31.3 million tourists annually, Peddicord says the country’s most popular destinations become “over-touristed”, resulting in thousands of people queuing for a photo at iconic locations like the Acropolis. “Instead of battling the crowds, those seeking Greek island-inspired relaxation should head to Paros, a low-key alternative to Mykonos and Santorini,” she says. Whitewashed buildings “draped in bougainvillea”, beautiful beaches, and a variety of restaurants, hotels, and shops create a unique scenery ideal for summer excursions. Additionally, Peddicord suggests visitors to take a boat to Antiparos, a small sister island, to experience “serene, unspoiled beaches” and try the local seafood. They can also explore ancient ruins and sights that showcase the island’s historical past. It should be noted that Paros won a place among Condé Nast Traveller’s “The 24 Best Places to Go in 2024”, and famous personas like Tom Hanks and Jeff Bezos have been spotted on the island. The Greek island recently gained significant international attention by hosting the filming of popular Netflix and Amazon Prime Video series.
