The goal of the initiative is to breathe new life into Greece’s archaeological sites, monuments, and museums. The productions this year focus on the concept of “Conflict”. Artists and art groups were invited to create works inspired by the concepts of inner conflict, conflict of cultures, conflict of interests, and conflict in times of war. A special ministry committee selected the winning submissions which will be presented in some of the country’s most iconic sites, including Palace of Nestor in Pylos, the Ancient Theatre of Pleuron in Messolonghi, the Archaeological Museum of Nemea and Rhodes, the Tavaniotis Mansion in Maronia, the Byzantine Museum of Veria, the Holy Convent of Ursulines on Tinos, the Castle of Patras, the Prehistoric settlement of Myrina on Lemnos, and the Kazarma Fortress in Sitia, Crete. Overall, this year’s program will feature 140 events which include 25 music performances, 19 theatre shows, nine happenings for young audiences, seven dance shows, six visual and performance art displays, and four music theater shows. All the events are free (attendees will only need to pay the entrance ticket fee for the archaeological site, if there is one) but advance booking is required through the “All of Greece, One Culture” website, where the detailed program and a map of locations and events are available.
