Acropolis Shines Among TripAdvisor’s ‘Best of the Best’ World and Europe Attractions

The Acropolis in Athens is among the winners of Tripadvisor’s 2024 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best “Things to Do” Awards, which highlight the highest rated experiences and attractions around the world based on Tripadvisor reviews.

According to Tripadvisor President Kristen Dalton, the “Best of the Best” badge has the seal of approval from global travelers as a source of inspiration for an unforgettable vacation.

“Experiences make a trip, and our Best of the Best Things to Do Awards offer some of the highest-rated activities from across the world, highlighted by our community of travelers,” said Dalton.

Among the world’s top attractions, the Acropolis secured the 13th place, honored for its long history and picturesque views. Additionally, the Greek site ranked eighth on the “Best of the Best” Europe list.

“Explore this ancient landmark and take a guided tour to learn about Greek mythology,” TripAdvisor’s specialists suggest, highlighting that “aside from its historic significance, the Acropolis offers amazing views across Athens, especially at sunset”.

Greece was also included in other categories on the lists for Europe and the world with a cruise in the Saronic Gulf ranking 23rd among the best experiences in Europe and 6th place as the best one-day cruise in the world.

For the first time ever and with 60,000 5-star reviews, the Empire State Building in New York City climbed to the top as the No. 1 attraction in the world by Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Things to Do.

Travelers said they were impressed by the 360-degree view of New York, where they can point out all of their favorite landmarks and see up to six states on a clear day. Over 300 reviews deem it a “once in a lifetime” experience.

In the same category in Europe, the Eiffel Tower in Paris claimed the top spot for its stunning panoramas of the city and unique architecture.

The 2024 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Things to Do Awards are determined based on the quality and quantity of traveler reviews and ratings posted on Tripadvisor over the 12-month period between April 1 2023 through March 31, 2024, as well as an additional editorial process.

Every year, TripAdvisor awards travelers’ favorite destinations, hotels, restaurants, attractions and activities around the world based on reviews and ratings collected over 12 months. The title celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel.
