Trade Associations - Gov Athens International Airport Freezes Charges for 2024, Except for PTF by GTP editing team 3 July 2024 written by GTP editing team 3 July 2024 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 44 Photo © Greek Travel Pages Athens International Airport (AIA) announced on July 1 the freezing of airport fees for 2024, except for the Passenger Terminal Facility (PTF) charge. The increased PTF charge will go into effect as of November 1. The decision followed negotiations between the airport and its users, with AIA asking for the PTF charge increase to substitute for the loss from the planned decrease of the state-imposed Airport Development Fund (widely referred to as “spatosimo” in Greek) duty. It is worth noting that landing and parking charges at Athens International Airport have remained flat since 2019, according to the company’s official site, with many other charges also unchanged even as far back as 2007. Yet, beginning November 1, the PTF charges, which are collected through passenger tickets, will be set as follows: – For departing passengers Intra-Schengen: 16.65 euros (from 9.90 euros today) per passenger. – For departing passengers Extra-Schengen: 19.95 euros (from 13.20 euros today) per passenger. Per departing transfer passengers, the charges will remain unchanged and are as follows: – For departing transfer passengers Intra-Schengen: 9.90 euros per passenger. – For departing transfer passengers Extra-Schengen: 13.20 euros per passenger. Infants, transit passengers, and crew members are exempt from the aforementioned charges. It should be noted that the state-imposed Airport Development Fund duty or “spatosimo” (from which 15 percent is collected by the State and 75 percent by the airport) charged on airline tickets of departing passengers currently amounts to 12 euros. From November 1 the charge will be reduced to 3 euros. The Airport Development Fund duty is collected by all airports in Greece.
