Attica Holdings SA, a European operator of international ferry services, recently signed an agreement with Stena RoRo for the long-term charter with the purchase option of two E-Flexer vessels investing in green transition and fleet renewal.
The agreement includes the construction of two vessels by Stena RoRo under a 10-year bareboat charter scheme, with an acquisition right available at the end of the fifth year of the hire period. Additionally, it includes an option to build two more ships on behalf of Attica Group.
The two new vessels will be built at the CMI Jinling Weihai Shipyard in China, with delivery scheduled for April and August 2027, respectively. According to the company, with an overall length of 239.70 meters, they will be the largest RoPax vessels ever ordered by a Greek shipping firm.
Environmentally efficient
The new vessels will be Methanol ready and carry a Battery notation, equipped with engines designed to operate on 3 different fuel types to meet future requirements.
They will also be equipped with state-of-the-art technology to optimize fuel consumption and incorporate high-efficiency technical features aimed at reducing the Group’s GHG emissions per transport work by 60 percent compared to existing vessels.
