Edelweiss Air, a Swiss leisure and charter airline, has added two direct flights from Zurich to Skiathos, facilitating the connection between cities in Switzerland and the Sporades island group. According to Skiathos Mayor Thodoris Tzoumas, the tourism appeal of the island is now significantly enhanced in the Swiss market through the municipality’s strategic partnership with the airline. “The Municipality of Skiathos has established another significant collaboration with a major airline, Edelweiss Air, aimed at the strategic and comprehensive promotion of our island in Switzerland,” the mayor said on social media. Edelweiss Air is the sister company of Swiss International Air Lines and a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group. According to Tzoumas, the partnership is part of the municipality’s communication plan which foresees the expanding of actions and synergies with leading tourism companies aiming to promote Skiathos as a premier holiday destination. He further emphasized that the cooperation with Edelweiss Air aims to maximize the influx of visitors, which is already showing an increasing trend. The SIHE is a key event for industry professionals, offering important opportunities for networking and developing new partnerships. The new features introduced this year will make the salon even more unmissable for all travel enthusiasts and industry professionals. Tzoumas sees the municipality’s participation as a significant advantage to positioning Skiathos on the map of destinations in the Swiss and international tourism markets.
