Established in 2001, the Aegean Regatta is an international sailing organization with two main goals: to promote the Greek islands and strengthen local communities financially giving them a chance to attract visitors. “Apart from the racing itself, the Aegean Regatta allows competitors to explore beautiful Aegean islands, which vary each year, and to enjoy the vibrant cultural events organized by local island communities,” said Erifyli Vardaki, President of the Open Sea Committee of the Hellenic Sailing Association. Program – Races Organized by the Secretary General of the Aegean and Island Policy and the Open Sea Committee, the race schedule is as follows: – August 17: Kalymnos – Welcoming, registrations, inspections – August 18: Kalymnos – Welcoming, registrations, inspections, skippers meeting, opening ceremony – August 19: 1st Race: Kalymnos – Nissyros – August 20: Day Off at Nissyros – Prize Giving Ceremony at Mandraki, Nissyros – August 21: 2nd Race: Nissyros – Tilos – Prize Giving Ceremony at Livadia, Tilos – August 22: 3rd Race: Tilos – Chalki – Prize Giving Ceremony at Chalki – August 23: 4th Race: Chalki – Rhodes – August 24: Offshore Races at Rhodes – Prize Giving and Closing Ceremony Erifyli Vardaki, President of the Open Sea Committee of the Hellenic Sailing Association. The races are supported by the Sailing Club of Mytilene, the Offshore Sailing Club of Lesvos, the Civilized Cultural Union of Vrontados (P.E.K.E.V.), and the Nautical Club of Chios and Samos, under the supervision of the Offshore Yachting Club of Rhodes.
