Trade Associations - Gov Summer Sales Season 2024 Starts Throughout Greece by GTP editing team 8 July 2024 written by GTP editing team 8 July 2024 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 54 Photo source: Region of Attica It’s summer sales time in Greece, with the annual “ritual” starting on July 8 and ending on the last day of August. During this peak tourism season, summer sales add another attraction for foreign tourists in Greece’s commercial centers and shops. According to the current law, stores can open voluntarily on the first Sunday of the summer sale (this year July 14), from 11 am to 8 pm. It should be noted that according to new Law 5111/2024, merchants are obliged to present customers with the sale price of items as well as their previous price, in effect for at least the 30 last days before the beginning of sales. Shop owners may also add the percentage of the price cuts on the items’ tags. If an item has been in the market for less than 30 days, its original price to which the sale price will be referred to is the previously lowest at which it was being sold. If 60 percent or more of all items sold by a shop are on sale, customers should be informed by announcements on the shop windows. Also, if different categories of items are subject to different cuts customers should also be informed of the fact with writings on the shop windows defining the lowest and the highest percentage of their sales. If customers have any doubts about the validity of the sales prices, and in case they need assistance they should contact the Union of Working Consumers in Greece (known in Greece as EEKE) on tel : 210-8817730 or e-mail: info@eeke.gr.
