Photo source: Air France Air France recently expanded its presence in Greece with a new direct flight from Paris to Kalamata, in the Peloponnese, southern Greece, marking its seventh destination in Greece for the summer season. The Paris-Kalamata route launched on July 6 and will operate throughout the peak summer months of July and August. Flights will be available every Saturday aboard Airbus 319 aircraft, accommodating 143 passengers. Flight AF1790 departs Paris-Charles de Gaulle every Saturday at 08:10 am, arriving at Kalamata Airport “Captain Vassilis Konstantakopoulos” at 12:30 pm. The return flight, AF1791, departs Kalamata the same day at 13:30, arriving in Paris at 16:00 (all times local). “This new route not only strengthens our network but also supports the local economy by boosting tourism,” said Air France-KLM Regional Director Yiannis Pantazopoulos during a ceremony held to welcome the inaugural flight to Kalamata. Pantazopoulos emphasized that the new connection aims to enhance accessibility to the wider region for visitors from around the globe. Alongside the area’s renowned hospitality, visitors can explore a region steeped in history, adorned with stunning landscapes, renowned local gastronomy, and rich cultural heritage. Photo source: Air France Speaking at the ceremony, Messinia Deputy Regional Governor Efstathios Anastasopoulos highlighted that the new Paris-Kalamata connection will drive development for the destination. “The new air connection between Kalamata and Paris is expected to strengthen tourism development, not only in Messinia but also throughout the rest of the Peloponnese,” Anastasopoulos said. The regional governor added that immediate plans include upgrading Kalamata airport to ensure it can meet future challenges effectively.
