The pilot run of the digital work card was discussed among representatives of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE), and Minister of Labor and Social Security, Niki Kerameus.

They convened on Wednesday to consider implementing the digital work card in the tourism market, including the food & beverage sector, beginning this coming fall. This timeline allows for necessary adjustments before mandatory adoption across all sectors.

Other topics discussed included the utilization of training programs, increasing the minimum wage, and reducing non-wage costs for employers to meet the human resource needs of the tourism sector. Minister Kerameus mentioned collaborative efforts with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Tourism to align training policies with market demands.

During discussions with the ESEE delegation, the minister emphasized the digital work card’s crucial role in ensuring fair practices in the retail sales sector, addressing practical challenges in the job market.

SETE was represented by its president, Yiannis Paraschis, and other board members, while ESEE was represented by Giorgos Karanikas, president of the confederation, and other partners.

The meetings were also attended by the deputy ministers of labor, Panos Tsakloglou and Kostas Karagounis.
