However, as AirDNA’s data shows, in each of these countries vacationers will also find exceptionally affordable accommodation if they do not insist on staying at the most coveted destinations. In Greece for example, 16 out of its 277 markets, have average daily rates (ADRs) of 250 euros or higher, catering to luxury travelers seeking premium experiences. Cosmopolitan Mykonos, in particular, stands out with an average of 754.39 euros per night, cementing its reputation as a high-end destination. “It’s destinations like Mykonos that put Greece on the map as one of the most expensive countries in Europe,” AirDNA says. 3 most affordable cities to rent Airbnbs in Greece The city of Lamia. Photo Source: Municipality of Lamia For budget-conscious visitors, however, the three markets with 10 or more listings and the cheapest ADRs are: – Soufli, a silk producing village in northern Greece that welcomes visitors for only 36.74 euros – Lamia, a town in central Greece’s plains that charges 44.46 euros, and – the Municipality of Pavlos Melas, northwest of the city of Thessaloniki, where Airbnb-type rentals can be found for an average price of just 49.16 euros. “These hidden gems provide an opportunity to experience Greece’s charm and hospitality without the high costs associated with more popular destinations,” AirDNA says. According to AirDNA, out of the 277 markets in Greece, 119 have average ADRs of 100 euros or less, meaning that travelers have plenty of budget-friendly choices when exploring the country. Referring to Athens, AirDNA highlights “the highest-performing markets in Greece”, namely Marousi, Agia Paraskevi, and Egaleo, which are affordable for guests at less than 100 euros per night. “Located near Athens, these destinations offer a blend of urban amenities and proximity to cultural attractions, making them appealing to a wide range of travelers,” AirDNA says. AirDNA: Most expensive and cheapest countries in Europe for short-term rentals With an average price per night of 253 euros, Greece ranks fourth most expensive country in Europe in terms of the short-term rental market. Iceland is in the top spot at 264 euros and is followed by Monaco at 261 euros and the United Kingdom at 260 euros. Spain is the fifth most expensive country in Europe to rent an Airbnb with an ADR at 236 euros. The cheapest countries in Europe to rent accommodation for the short-term include Eastern European destinations such as Kosovo, Belarus, Moldova, North Macedonia, and Serbia.
