The magazine’s July-August issue paid tribute to Greece, featuring a distinctive Cycladic landscape on its cover and accompanied by the title “Escapes in Greece: The ‘Most Secret’ Islands”. The unique atmosphere of the Cyclades was showcased in the 10-page tribute, a result of the Greek National Tourism Organization’s (GNTO) partnership with the French magazine to promote Greece to French travelers. Dubbed “Wonderful Tour of the Greek Islands”, the tribute invites readers to “discover the magical Cyclades Complex, where they can travel to the islands in pairs”. It describes the “elegant Sifnos and the ‘mystical’ Serifos“, the “natural treasures of Tinos and Syros“, and the “must-do” stops on Milos, Kimolos, and Folegandros. Before reaching the “authentic Paros and Antiparos“, it explores the “secrets of Naxos and Donoussa” and the “natural paradises of Amorgos and Koufonisia“. The tribute to the Greek islands is accompanied by an augmented reality QR code, redirecting readers to the GNTO’s website, while the issue is also advertised with references to Greece on national radio stations. “Désirs de Voyages” is a bimonthly upscale magazine published both online and in print. Each issue presents different types of destinations, both national and international, aiming to provide holiday ideas mainly to high-income readers who travel three to four times a year. Editors suggest various experiences for each article, including leisure, adventure, culture, and wellness. Désirs de Voyages’ next stop: Chania, Crete Chania, Crete. Photo source: GNTO As part of the GNTO’s collaboration with Désirs de Voyages, the magazine’s editor Alexandra Chassin visited Chania, Crete, and its surrounding area as part of a press trip organized by the Greek tourism board office in France, in cooperation with the Region of Crete. During her trip, held between June 10 to 14, Chassin gathered information to write an article about Chania as a top luxury holiday destination, with a focus on cultural heritage, contemporary art, wellness, gastronomy, wine tasting, and shopping. “Chassin was impressed by the unique travel experience, the incomparably beautiful natural landscapes, the Cretan tastes, and the unique blend of history and modern culture that the region has,” according to GNTO officials. The article will be published in the next issue of “Désirs de Voyages” (September–October). As part of the GNTO’s promotional efforts to promote Greece to the French market, travel editor Pierre Gros was hosted in Athens and was introduced to the Greek capital’s tourism offerings. Moreover, the organization recently ran a successful promotion campaign for Greece at the metro and bus stations in Paris.
