The memorandum was recently signed in Athens by GNTO Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis and Netflix Public Policy Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Madeleine de Cock Buning. According to an announcement, Netflix will support Greece’s tourism industry by leveraging the global popularity of its content to showcase the country’s landscapes around the world. “Using the power of image and storytelling, Netflix is partnering with the national tourism organization of Greece to project its beauty to the whole world,” Buning said. The mutual cooperation between the two sides includes the production of a video by Netflix to be used by the GNTO for promotional purposes. Buning and Fragakis also discussed potential future collaborations, recognizing that strengthening the audiovisual sector and promoting the country through it is a “national goal”. They expressed their unwavering commitment to continue their joint efforts to promote Greece by supporting the audiovisual industry. “Through this collaboration, we aspire to establish Greece as an ideal location for future audiovisual productions,” Fragakis said. “Leveraging Netflix’s global reach, this partnership seeks to attract tourists and filmmakers, making Greece a magnet for travel and film productions,” the GNTO’s secretary general added.
