Photo source: GNTO A group of journalists from Cyprus recently enjoyed the picturesque scenery and alternative tourism experiences in two destinations in central Greece. As part of a press trip organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), Maria Themistokleous, Andria Georgiou, and Styliana Kyriakou, were introduced to the unique features of Evia and Viotia. They had the opportunity to sample local gastronomy and learn about the rich history of both destinations. The press trip began in Evia, and from June 27 to 30, the three journalists visited several local sites, including the Church of Saint George and the monasteries of Saint David and Saint John the Russian. They also toured Evia’s capital, Halkida, where they visited the Archaeological Museum of Arethousa and the War Museum. From Halkida, they continued to the small town of Nea Artaki. Photo source: GNTO After their three-day stay in Evia, the journalists traveled to Thiva in Viotia. There, they visited the Archaeological Museum and experienced the solemnity of the Holy Monastery of Saint Luke. Evia, also known as Euboea, is the second-largest Greek island after Crete. It lies northeast of the mainland and is separated from Boeotia (Viotia) by the narrow Euripus Strait.
