The Greek Culture Ministry recently approved the final studies for the revamp of the former iconic Xenia Hotel on the island of Kythnos by Israeli entrepreneur Avraham Ravid. The Xenia Hotel was awarded to Ravid in the summer of 2022 at a price of 3 million euros. His plans include investments of more than 25 million euros for the hotel’s restoration. According to press reports, the final studies included the renovation of the traditional building of the hydrotherapy thermal spa, which is part of the resort hotel facility. The approved studies also involved the full renovation of the facade of the existing hotel, changes to the building layout, the structural reinforcement of the building, the addition of a pool in the courtyard, and the landscaping of the property. (ETAD). The management company will also have access to the two thermal springs on the lot: the saline spring of Agioi Anargyroi and the ferrous spring of Kakkavos. The former Xenia property has great historical and cultural significance, as it was built during the reign of King Otto by Danish architect Christian Hansen. The facilities were modified by Ernst Ziller between 1871 and 1891 and have been listed as historical monuments, as they are remarkable examples of architecture directly linked to the history of the Baths of Kythnos.
