Gioulekas during his meeting with the Ambassador of Canada in Greece Karine Asselin. Gioulekas is responsible for the sector of Macedonia and Thrace. Accompanied by the Honorary Consul in Thessaloniki, Pantelis Petmezas, the Canadian Ambassador highlighted the excellent bilateral relations and the potential for further cooperation between the two countries. As Asselin emphasized, the high growth rates of the Greek economy and the pro-investment climate created by the government’s interventions are paving the way for Canadian companies to invest in Macedonia and Thrace. Gkioulekas highlighted the significance of the Greek diaspora in Canada as a vital link between the two countries and proposed joint initiatives to attract more Canadian tourists to Northern Greece throughout the year. During their meeting, they also discussed the export of high-quality products from Macedonia and Thrace to the Canadian market. These products will bear the collective mark of the Greek Exporters Association (SEVE), “Macedonia the Great”. Canada is emerging as a key tourism market for Greece, as a recent INSETE report shows that Canadians ranked Greece among the 15 best destinations for long-haul trips.
