A new info kiosk launched by the Municipality of Kalamata in the Peloponnese aims to highlight the city’s landmarks, helping residents and visitors fully experience the capital of Messinia.

Located on the waterfront of the port, the kiosk operates daily from 7.30pm to 10.30pm, featuring three interactive touchscreens with rich information about Kalamata, while a municipal employee is present to serve visitors.

“The aim is to provide information to visitors in an enjoyable manner, with systems that are user-friendly for all ages, and the option of accessing information in multiple languages,” according to an announcement by the municipality.

One interactive screen specifically displays photos of major city sites along with interesting information about them. Visitors can choose what they want to learn from a variety of available data.

Additionally, a touchscreen interactive map offers detailed insights into the city’s streets and suburbs. Another screen allows visitors to take a selfie in any part of the city they choose, digitally selecting from options like parks or beaches. By entering their details, the photos are then sent to their email.

The municipality adopts these technological advancements to promote its tourism offerings and enhance the overall experience of the city. An identical interactive kiosk is also installed in the historic City Hall.

Kalamata is expected to see an increase in its tourist arrivals since its rising as an emerging summer destination. Air France recently expanded its network with a new direct flight from Paris to Kalamata, operating during the peak summer months of July and August.
