Thirty-nine international hotel chains, independent of tour operators, are currently present in Greece, according to a recent report by analytics firm GBR Consulting.

The “Greek Hospitality Industry Performance 2024 Q2” report by GBR indicates that these 39 chains manage 205 hotels with a total of 29,204 rooms in Greece.

In the 5-star category, 20 percent of hotels and 26 percent of rooms in Greece are part of international chains, while in the 4-star category, these figures are 5 percent and 11 percent, respectively.

GBR Consulting’s data reveals that Marriott International holds the largest market share with 19 percent, followed by Sani / Ikos Group and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, each with 9 percent. Hilton Worldwide holds 7 percent, while Louis Group, Accor, Domes Resorts, and Hyatt International each have 5 percent, IHG and Melia Hotels International each hold 4 percent, and the remaining 20 chains together account for 28 percent.

In July, Hilton expanded its portfolio by incorporating properties from the Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) collection, now accessible through Hilton booking channels. SLH has 25 hotels in Greece, bringing Hilton’s total properties in the country to 34, with over 2,200 rooms. This includes 8 properties in the Curio Collection and one Tapestry in Chania. With this agreement, Hilton has entered the top 10 of international chains in Greece.
