“loveHER-5 Senses-365 Days” is the name of the new promotional campaign of Heraklion, the largest city on the island of Crete. The campaign cleverly incorporates the first three letters of the city’s name (HERaklion) and emphasizes experiencing the city through all five senses throughout the entire year.

Developed by the city’s municipal authority, the campaign’s central theme is “Love HER”, encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in the city’s rich history, culture, and flavors every day of the year.

Love HER: Discover Heraklion with all your senses

With this campaign, the Municipality of Heraklion invites travelers to explore, experience, and fall in love with the city using all their senses: Seeing, Feeling, Tasting, Smelling, and Hearing.

The “loveHER-5 senses-365 days” campaign invites travelers to:

See: Immerse yourself in the historic monuments, admire the cultural and natural beauty of Heraklion. Experience the magic of ancient ruins and Venetian walls, explore the city’s rich cultural heritage, and discover the picturesque landscapes and traditional villages of the surrounding inland.

Touch: Experience the warmth and authenticity of Heraklion’s hospitality. Let the city’s living history and the stories of its residents touch you, as the locals warmly welcome you and share their traditions and way of life.

Taste: Indulge in Heraklion’s unique gastronomic offerings by savoring traditional Cretan recipes and local products. Delight in Cretan dishes made with local, organic ingredients, from the traditional “dako” and “apaki” to fresh seafood and excellent Cretan wines. Heraklion’s inclusion in UNESCO’s list of “International Gastronomic Destinations” attests to its exceptional culinary experiences.

Smell: Enjoy the inviting aromas of Cretan herbs, from fresh oregano and mythical sage to juicy fruits found in colorful markets. Each scent offers a sensory journey that bridges the urban and rural landscapes.

Listen: Revel in the enchanting sounds of Heraklion, where the traditional Cretan lyre accompanies you through picturesque public squares and narrow streets. Join local village fairs where traditional music and dance create unforgettable memories that last into the early morning hours.

The Municipality of Heraklion not only encompasses the ancient Minoan city of Knossos and its remarkable palace but also features modern infrastructure and a vibrant calendar of cultural events throughout the year. With its blend of historic charm and contemporary amenities, Heraklion offers a rich array of experiences that ensure each visit is memorable. The city seamlessly combines tradition and modernity, making it a unique and compelling destination for all who explore it.
