athens Acropolis Museum: Free Music Concert Under August Full Moon by GTP editing team 17 August 2024 written by GTP editing team 17 August 2024 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 35 Photo source: Acropolis Museum The Acropolis Museum in Athens will celebrate the August full moon on Monday, August 19, with a concert by the historic Hellenic Air Force Band performing Greek songs about the moon, film music and famous melodies. The concert will take place in the museum’s entrance courtyard at 9pm. The Hellenic Air Force Band consists of senior and junior officers, high-level musicians who studied at various conservatories of Greece and were admitted into the ranks of the Air Force after passing certain examination. The band takes part in worldwide music festivals and leads the 5th Avenue parade in New York dedicated to March 25th celebrations of the Greek expatriates. Major Alexandros Litsardopoulos is the conductor of the band. The singers that will perform are Sofia Zova and Angelos Mousikas. The Acropolis Museum will be open from 9am to 5pm like every Monday as usual. On the occasion of the full moon on the same day, the Acropolis Museum and its restaurant will open from 8pm until 12 midnight. Regardless of the free concert by the Hellenic Air Force Band in the courtyard at 9pm, the museum’s general admission fee will apply for entry to the exhibition galleries.
