According to data from the Bank of Greece (BoG), total inbound travel flows in June 2024 rose by 8.8 percent. For the first six months of the year, there was an overall increase of 15.5 percent. In June, Greece welcomed 705,800 travelers from the United Kingdom, an increase of 7.8 percent compared to the same month last year. Travelers from Germany numbered 701,800, marking a 2.5 percent increase. Traffic from Italy rose by 10.3 percent, reaching 235,400 travelers. Conversely, arrivals from France decreased by 13.5 percent to 206,700 travelers. For the second consecutive month, travel from the United States declined by 11.2 percent, with 185,900 travelers in June. Source: Bank of Greece Reduced average spend per trip Travel receipts for June increased by 7.7 percent year-over-year, totaling 3.115 billion euros. In January-June, travel receipts reached some 6.9 billion euros, up by 12.2 percent year‑on‑year. However, the average spend per trip fell by 3.1 percent over the first half of the year and by 1.4 percent in June alone. Receipts from the United States decreased by 32.8 percent to 143.1 million euros, while receipts from Germany fell by 1.4 percent to 522.9 million euros. In contrast, receipts from the United Kingdom rose by 42.5 percent to 608.9 million euros. Receipts from France increased by 1 percent to 163.9 million euros, and receipts from Italy grew by 12.9 percent to 144.9 million euros. According to data, the average expenditure per trip for visitors this year is as follows: 847.20 euros for travelers from the United States, 666.00 euros for those from Germany, 545.60 euros for Italian visitors, 517.20 euros for those from the United Kingdom, and 413.40 euros for travelers from France.
