July’s data alone revealed a 13.9% rise in road arrivals, totaling 2.3 million, an increase of 277,000 compared to July 2023. The highest volume of arrivals during the first seven months of 2024 was recorded at the Promahonas border crossing in the Prefecture of Serres, on the Greek-Bulgarian border. This station saw 1.6 million arrivals, marking a 9.5% increase of 137,000 compared to the same period in 2023. Similarly, the Evzoni border station on the Greek-North Macedonian border in the Prefecture of Kilkis reported 1.5 million arrivals from January to July 2024, up by 12.1% or 157,000 compared to the previous year. Photo source: Avis Greece Kipi records significant increase Kipi, on the Greek-Turkish border, reported the highest increase among all Greek land entry points, with 604,000 entries in the first seven months of 2024—a 31.6 percent rise (145,000 more) compared to the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, the Kastanies border crossing, also on the Greek-Turkish border, saw a 78.6 percent increase in arrivals, totaling 138,000 entries in the same timeframe. Kyprinos sees over 100% increase The most significant percentage increase in road arrivals to Greece was recorded at the Kyprinos border crossing on the Greek-Bulgarian border, with 90,000 arrivals from January to July 2024. This is 47,000 more than the same period in 2023, marking a 107.3 percent rise. Conversely, Krystallopigi, on the Greek-Albanian border, was the only crossing to see a decline, with 354,000 arrivals in the first seven months of 2024—a 13.9 percent drop compared to 2023.
