Charlotte, American’s second-largest hub in the USA, offers connections to 130 destinations across North America. The new flight from Charlotte to Athens will complement the airline’s existing seasonal services to Chicago (ORD), New York (JFK), and Philadelphia (PHL). Subject to change, the current schedule for the new daily flights is as follows: departing Athens at 12:00 noon and arriving in Charlotte at 16:30; the return flight will leave Charlotte at 19:00 and arrive in Athens at 12:20 the next day. The flights will be operated using a Boeing 777-200. José Freig, Vice President of International Operations at American Airlines, expressed enthusiasm for the additional service, highlighting Greece’s popularity among North American travelers. “With Greece remaining one of the most sought-after destinations from North America, we are excited to enhance our connectivity,” Freig stated. “This new route will provide more direct flight options between Greece and the US than any other airline, offering greater accessibility for our Greek and American customers.” In addition to the new Athens service, American Airlines will also expand its European routes in 2025, adding flights to Madrid (MAD), Milan (MXP), and Rome (FCO). The airline will also resume seasonal flights to Copenhagen (CPH), Naples (NAP), and Nice (NCE), which were introduced this summer.
