The importance of the Thessaloniki Port as a key factor for the shipping industry in Greece and Europe was highlighted by executives of the Thessaloniki Port Authority (ThPA) to German officials.

In conjunction with the Thessaloniki International Fair, where Germany was the country of honor, German government executives, professionals, and representatives visited the city and met with ThPA President Athanasios Liagkos and General Commercial & Strategic Communication Manager Theodora Riga to discuss the potential of Greek shipping.

The discussions centered on Greek-German cooperation in international trade, logistics, and digital transformation. ThPA officials noted that the talks on freight flows in Southeast Europe and the role of ports underscored the importance of mutually beneficial initiatives and actions for both countries.

“Enhancing Greek-German cooperation is vital for building a competitive European shipping industry with robust ports,” Liagkos emphasized.
