The agreement was signed in Thessaloniki, on the occasion of its 88th International Trade Fair, with Germany as this year’s honored country. The areas of cooperation include the assessment of Hellenic Railways’ Training Center processes and structure, the evaluation of current training programs and proposals for enhancement, conducting training programs for trainers, an exchange program, and the transfer of knowhow, along with support for the digitalization of railway systems and processes. Greece’s Minister for Infrastructure and Transportation, Christos Staikouras, also met at the Fair with Oliver Luksic, Germany’s Deputy Minister for Transportation. Besides ongoing cooperation aimed at upgrading bilateral relations, the two officials discussed European Commission priorities concerning transportation, focusing on road safety, the development of railways, and connections with the northern Greek ports of Thessaloniki, Kavala and Alexandroupolis for commercial trade. Commenting on the memorandum between the Greek and German railway companies, Minister Staikouras remarked, “A new era of cooperation begins today, aimed at further enhancing the skills of Hellenic Railways’ human resources. This is another step toward upgrading the safety and quality of service in Greece’s railways.” Join the 15,000+ travel executives who read our newsletter Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
