Greek maritime infrastructure will be upgraded to enhance port services under three Memoranda of Cooperation (MoC) signed by the Hellenic Ports Association (ELIME).

The agreements establish closer cooperation between ELIME, the Maritime Service of the Ministry of Shipping, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and the Federation of Greek Shipping Agents.

Τhe first memorandum of cooperation was signed during a meeting between the President of ELIME’s Board of Directors, Athanasios Liagos, and the Director of the Navigational Service of the Shipping Ministry, Ioanna Berketi.

The memorandum outlines the expansion of navigation services to all ports in the country, aiming to facilitate ship access and support the refueling of the Navigation Service’s vessels through electrification, alongside modernizing the port services offered.

Furthermore, Athanasios Liagos signed a second cooperation agreement with Theodore Syriopoulos, President of the Department of Port Management and Shipping at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The agreement focuses on developing joint programs, projects, and initiatives in research, education, and exchange of know-how within the port sector.

During the 88th Thessaloniki International Fair, ELIME and the Federation of Greek Shipping Agents signed a third memorandum of cooperation aimed at modernizing the port system, upgrading port services, and strengthening the blue economy.
