In the framework of the Thessaloniki International Fair 2024, Ministers of Interior and Digital Governance, Thodoris Livanios, and Dimitris Papastergiou, presented their joint initiatives aimed at digitalizing municipal services nationwide. “The initiatives presented today at the TIF, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Governance, aim to cut bureaucracy, enhance services, and continuously improve citizens’ daily lives,” emphasized Interior Minister Thodoris Livanios. Photo source: Interior Ministry The initiatives include: – A unified information system for managing real estate tax, municipal taxes, and fees – A platform for the electronic seizure of financial claims by local authorities against debtors through credit institutions – A platform for the declaration of gross and incidental receipts – The electronic commitment and release of tax information – The expansion and upgrade of the govHUB Interoperability Hub These actions will enhance the efficiency of municipal services while simplifying daily life and service for both citizens and businesses. Their implementation will bring significant benefits to local governments by reducing administrative burdens, accelerating process times, and improving transparency. Photo source: Interior Ministry The acquisition of cybersecurity equipment and services, along with additional support from the National Cyber Security Authority (NCA), is essential for establishing the new modern system. According to the ministers, these actions will ensure that threats to network and information systems supporting essential services are prevented, mitigated, and deterred. “Technology is already assisting municipalities and can further enhance their efficiency, enabling faster services for citizens and businesses, and improving resource management,” concluded Dimitris Papastergiou.
