Awards Six Beaches on Rhodes Lose Blue Flag Certification by GTP editing team 19 September 2024 written by GTP editing team 19 September 2024 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 39 Six beaches on Rhodes, Dodecanese, have been removed from the “Blue Flag” 2024 list after failing to meet the program’s stringent operational and sustainability standards. The beaches that lost their Blue Flag status are Theologos Beach, Kiotari Angeliena 1 Beach, Ladiko Beach, Faliraki Coast Limanaki, Reni Beach and Anthony Quinn Beach. The decision was announced by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (EEPF), following unannounced visits to the beaches by volunteer evaluators. After EEPF officials communicated with the beaches’ coastal managers, deficiencies were identified in the mandatory compliance with criteria related to: services for bathers and visitors (including those with disabilities), cleanliness, proper information, safety measures, environmental management, initiatives to protect the coastal environment, and the preservation of free coastal space. Officially, the program’s duration ends on October 31. In July, twenty-two beaches that received the “Blue Flag” label this year were also removed from the list because they didn’t meet the program’s strict criteria.
