During a recent meeting in Athens, Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni and Qatari Ambassador Ali Khalfan Al-Mansouri emphasized the robust bilateral ties between their countries, underscored by the frequent exchange of official state visits. To facilitate the “Greece-Qatar Year of Culture 2027”, Mendoni and Al-Mansouri agreed to establish committees tasked with designing the program and organizing events in both nations. According to the Greek Culture Ministry, a central feature of the planned activities will be archaeological exhibitions in Qatar. In the near future, ministry executives will travel to Doha to initiate consultations with their Qatari counterparts. The program will include performances of ancient drama, dance, and music, alongside translation initiatives and events that highlight shared traditions between Greece and Qatar, with themes focusing on maritime heritage and culinary practices. Additionally, the officials discussed the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at combating the illegal trafficking of cultural goods. Moreover, Minister Mendoni extended an invitation to Qatar’s Minister of Culture, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad al Thani, to visit Greece early next year.
