Aldemar Resorts and the Olympian Village Hotel in Western Greece recently supported a major Greek-Italian conference in Ilia, Peloponnese, boosting its appeal as a MICE tourism destination.

The first “Greece, Great Greece, Italy: Common Cultural Differences and Challenges in the New Millennium” conference took place in Pyrgos from September 20 to 21. Organized by the municipalities in Ilia and South Italy and supported by the Hellenic Italian Chamber of Athens, the conference aimed to promote culture, economy, business, sports, and education in both countries.

The conference was the first in a series of planned initiatives resulting from the twinning of Southern Italian municipalities with those in Ilia. Specifically, the Municipality of Crotone has partnered with the Municipality of Andravida-Kyllini, the Municipality of Pyrgos with the Municipality of Squillace, and the Municipality of Ancient Olympia with the Municipality of San Marino.

As part of the conference, Aldemar’s Olympian Village welcomed delegates to a specially curated lunch at the hotel’s Marina restaurant, which offers stunning views of the Ionian Sea. The lunch was attended by the mayors of the twinned municipalities, the president of the Greek-Italian Chamber, the Vice-Regional Governor of Western Greece, and other prominent figures.”

According to the hotel’s management, Aldemar Resorts actively supports major cultural events in order to showcase the area’s advantages.

The outcomes of the Greek-Italian conference will be presented in October in Rome, where officials from the Automobile Club Roma and Assoittica Italia will meet with the city’s Greek community and the Head of the Roman Catholic Church at the Vatican.
