The Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki hotel, a member of Regency Entertainment, has taken a significant step towards energy independence by establishing a new solar park to support its year-round operations.

With an investment of 1.4 million euros, this initiative aligns with the company’s strategy to reduce its carbon footprint by embracing alternative energy sources.

As part of its sustainability efforts, the hotel recently installed 1,738 solar panels on the roofs of its parking lot, generating a total capacity of 1 MW. These panels are projected to meet 20 percent of the hotel’s annual electricity requirements, enabling Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki to reduce its reliance on conventional energy sources.

“The operation of the solar park demonstrates Regency Entertainment Group’s unwavering commitment to high standards in environmental management, social responsibility, and corporate governance,” the hotel’s management said in an official statement.

According to a company announcement, the operation of the solar park highlights the hotel management and staff’s commitment to delivering top-tier services while actively engaging with the natural, economic, and social environment of the region.

Set amidst an 11,000-acre lush garden, the hotel is a premier accommodation choice in Thessaloniki, offering conference facilities, a spa and wellness center, as well as award-winning restaurants and bars.

The Hyatt Regency Hotel Thessaloniki is next to the Regency Casino and conveniently located near Makedonia International Airport, just minutes from the city center.
